Humbled and Hopeful, Summer 2023
June 4, 2023 - August 27, 2023
The church in America recently lost one of the most influential and important voices that it has known in recent decades. I and many others in our church mourned the loss of a "mentor from afar" in Dr. Timothy Keller, former pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. Dr. Keller's ministry was important primarily for the way he constantly sought to see and teach the beauty of the gospel and the way that it answers the most pressing and powerful questions of our society in every changing generation. My favorite summary of the gospel I ever heard from Dr. Keller went, "The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope."
This summer we will be completing a sermon series that we launched last summer that seeks to see how this picture of the gospel, the grace of God being infinitely humbling and infinitely hopeful, plays out in the book of Isaiah. We'll be exploring twelve texts from Isaiah 40-66 that show us both our need for humility, and the beauty of the hope that we find in the good news. A story of a savior who would not leave us in our brokenness, but instead makes us whole and gave us infinite value in giving his life for ours. We hope you'll be able to join us as
our family here are reminded to live up to our namesake, to be humble and hopeful!
God Bless,
Pastor Jon
