Adult Sunday School Winter 2024 The Character of Christ

The Bible tells us that those who believe in Christ will be "transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory." (2 Cor 3:18)  This doesn't refer to His physical, financial, or geographical likeness, of course, but the likeness of His *character*. Our life on planet Earth should be a journey in which our inner selves become progressively less controlled by sin and selfishness, and progressively more characterized by Christ-likeness.

So what does the character of Christ look like? What exactly should we be asking for, and aiming for, and expecting?

In this study we will focus on the many beautiful aspects of Jesus's character, as described by Himself and recorded by His followers. Far from being a bland and passive existence, we'll discover that "Christ-likeness" instead means a rich, courageous, and passionate approach to life that transforms those around us. Christ's character is like a polished diamond, bringing different colors to different situations, each of them illuminating to others and glorifying to God. Each week we'll focus on one of those "colors" (attributes of His character) and challenge each other to identify how we can reflect that aspect of His image in our practical daily living.
