We are excited to serve your children on Sunday mornings, throughout the week and all through the year. Our children’s programs are designed share God’s Word with children through Bible stories and engaging activities. If you have questions about any of our children’s programs or if you would like to join our wonderful teams of teachers and volunteers please contact the Director of Children’s Ministry Melissa Kester at melissa@hopechurchva.org

In an effort to streamline registration for Sunday School, VBS, and other children's activities, we are asking families to register once each year using our online form. Thanks for your cooperation!

A nursery for children age 2 and under is offered throughout the morning, beginning at 9:20. The nursery is located in the children’s wing.

family worship

During both worship services the children are invited to sit with their family in the sanctuary for opening worship. After a brief time of family worship, the children may remain in the service or proceed to the children's wing for Sunday School (9:30) or Children's Church (11:00).

Children's Sunday School classes take place during the 9:30 service immediately following the family worship time. We are currently using the Gospel Project which is a chronological study of the Bible, presented on a child’s level with fun activities reinforcing the Bible stories.

Children's Church takes place during the 11:00 service immediately following the family worship and provides children ages 3-9 a worship experience on their level. They hear the Gospel and learn to pray and sing as they prepare for worship in the “big church!”.

On Wednesday evenings during the school year, with parents in their own groups, we offer Kids 4 Christ which meets from 6:30-7:45 pm. K4C is for children ages 3 through 5th grade with a nursery for the younger children. During K4C children have an opportunity to build relationships with one another and with their leaders through game time and lesson time.

The Communicants Class is offered to students in 2nd through 5th fifth grades. In this class, the children learn the true meaning of Communion in our church. At completion of the class, the students have a Seder dinner that teaches the children about several Jewish Biblical foods and customs. The Seder meal is on Palm Sunday. The culmination of the class is the child's first participation in the sacrament of communion on Maundy Thursday.
